SpacesShared and Newfoundland and Labrador postsecondary schools enter unprecedented agreement to offer intergenerational homesharing from coast to coast to coast

There have been many great days as SpacesShared sets out to change the way the world lives together – and what happened today in St. John’s Newfoundland and Labrador is near the top of the list. Today, we signed MOUs to roll out SpacesShared across every postsecondary campus in the province operated by MUN, CNA, Keyin, Academy Canada and Dietrac Technical Institute. Collectively representing 30,000 students.The hospitality and welcoming nature of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians is legendary. So legendary, there’s even a Broadway musical about it. In my own life, the hospitality and generosity of my grandmother, who grew up Raleigh, on the Great Northern Peninsula in Newfoundland and Labrador, has inspired me personally and professionally. So, it makes sense that such a welcoming province has embraced “Come from Away” students.I am thrilled that our new partners, all across Newfoundland and Labrador, are now working with SpacesShared to help offer unique intergenerational homesharing arrangements. This represents four schools and numerous communities across 50 campuses and satellite campuses. I’m told that it’s unprecedented — never before have the province's colleges and university come together for a common goal in this way.We’re deeply honoured. And we’re very excited. I hope that if you’re an older adult in Newfoundland, you take advantage of this new opportunity to create a meaningful impact in a young person’s life, welcome connection and camaraderie into your home, and even pocket a little extra money.Thank you Newfoundland and Labrador!
