This holiday season, give yourself the gift of company all year

A reflection on how homesharing offers companionship — for hosts and guests alike — well beyond the holidays.

Is it “the most wonderful time of the year”? For some, the holidays are actually the loneliest time of the year, so if you or someone you know is feeling a blue Christmas, maybe the best gift is the gift of companionship.SpacesShared is one way to do that. Signing up as a host is the first step.Homesharing: A Solution to SolitudeSpacesShared, we use technology to bring older adults and students together, creating connections that extend beyond the holiday season. It’s a new approach to an old tradition: opening our homes to people and experiences that enrich our lives and communities. The concept is simple yet powerful: Older adults with spare bedrooms open their homes up to students looking for safe, affordable housing close to campus. It creates income for the host, and students benefit from having a trusted member of the community to help them start to feel at home in a new city. It’s a special relationship you have with people you share a roof with. And we do everything we can to make it safe, and walk with you to help ensure success.

How to Sign Up:

If you find yourself navigating the holiday season alone, or if you have space in your home that could be filled with shared laughter, we hope you’ll consider SpacesShared. By opening our homes and hearts to others, we can transform solitude into shared joy, for a semester, the school yearm and beyond. Let's celebrate the season not just as a time of giving, but as a time of sharing.More Resources: Homesharing is a great way to add income, connect with a student, and give back to your community.
